Piglet and Westie

I stitched an 'A' from the Pooh Bear alphabet into a keyring for this lovely pencil case for a little girl who will be 10 on Saturday, on the back i put her name 'Alice'. With school starting next week i thought it would be a nice original pressie to go with the coloured pencils i got too


Progress on this too, i think it will be a lovely needlecase when finished. It's gone away today though as it's Monday and Karen and I will be doing the Rose SAL, we've decided to finish it this week so it will probably take me a couple of evenings to do that. We are trying to decide what to stitch next on our LHN/CCN SAL night, there are so many nice charts that we both like and this way we get to make good progress on them and have some fun along the way LOL

Bank Hol weekend

The girls at the stitching club have made some lovely things for the raffle - bookmarks, a couple of needlerolls, cards and small designs in frames. I chose to make 2 noteblocks for my donation, the chart is from an old magazine, can't remember which one. The lady who runs the club is stitching the sampler for the overall winner of the show this year, wonder if DH will win it for the 3rd year LOL


My new start this month, Blackwork Dogs by X-Calibre Designs (to see the finished design click the link in Plans for Aug). Started this on Wednesday evening at the stitching club, it's really nice to be doing something different, a long time since i did any blackwork. Does anyone else like blackwork??


I received this gorgeous needleroll from Amy in the exchange at TS. It's so pretty and very ME!! I'm keen to reveal what i stitched but still don't know if mine has been received, so can't show you what i stitched yet ...

Roses, Roses ....

Sunday i finished the VS Victoria Rose Sampler, i did make a change to it though. The bottom hardanger bit should have partial greek crosses in it but after trying them i decided i prefer it with more of the cut out showing (if you click the link in the plans for Aug it will show you how it is on the chart). There is also enough thread/ribbon left from the thread pack to make the ornament that is also on the chart so i'll put it away for a while and do that another time.



Last night was week 7 of the Rose in Morning SAL. Karen, i did quite a bit, spent the evening quietly stitching whilst keeping out of the way of grumpy family members !! Next week i'll add the picket fence to it and then there's only the bottom border to go on it ... YAY !!



Had a phone call at the weekend to say that Barnabees Quest was ready to be collected from the framers. I'm really pleased with what he did with it. This is going to be 1 of my entries into the show this year at the local community centre together with the Chatelaine Lavendar Garden as thats now framed as well, think i'll also put in the huswif so folks can see a variety of what i stitch. I've made a start on a couple of small raffle prizes so i can fulfill my obligation to the girls at the stitching club. Tomorrow i'll find out what they have stitched for their contribution... wonder what it is ??

Hollyberry SAL

My first big hardanger project and i love working on this each month. We started it in February so now we've completed month 7, all of the stitching is now complete apart from the ribbon braid that will go on at the end. Next month is the cutting bit, that'll be exciting and somewhat scarey.

The needleroll has been sent, i joked with my postmaster that i wanted 'a speedy delivery and it not to be lost this time' his suggestion was to buy a plane ticket and hand deliver it myself ..... he has such a good sense of humour !!

I've got big plans to stitch on VS Victoria Rose Sampler this weekend and have a finish on that, seems ages since i crossed off one of my long term WIP's, as most of you know when i make plans they never seem to happen, so don't hold your breath LOL

Rose SAL ~ Week 6

Monday came round again, the day for Karen and i to stitch on our SAL. I'm using the Cottage Colours it asks for, very pretty BUT i'm a bit concerned about the blue flowers in the taller ones, they don't stand out at all, i think i might change them to a different colour (maybe the pink) when it's finished if i'm still not happy with them, what do you think??


Stitching on the needleroll is almost finished, hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to get it made up and in the post, lets hope Royal Mail behaves and delivers it speedily and then i can reveal it soon LOL

August Ornie

The theme this month for the ornie SAL was 'stocking'. For something different i decided not to stitch a stocking design but a design that made into a stocking shape. This ones from JCS Ornament Issue 2001 and the designer is Threads Through Time. Stitched on 32ct belfast linen in cream with DMC, the colours in this are stunning and i've loved every stitch of it


Great progress made on the needleroll today too, but obviously as it's an exchange piece i can't show you ... shame !!

Rose SAL

Here you are Karen, my week 5 of our SAL. I didn't get much done last night at the stitchy club, too much chatting and too many nice bikkies to eat ... you can't stitch and eat at the same time!! I've seen yours and it's funny we've done about the same again... very spooky LOL


I've also finished the stitching on the stocking for the ornie exchange at TS, hopefully i'll get that made up at the weekend and i've made a start this afternoon on the needleroll for the exchange, i think it's going to be hard to send this one off as it's stitching up lovely

Now to go catch up on what you have all been doing ...

Birthday girl !!

My daughter Amy turned 18 today, my baby became an adult overnight ... so where have 18 years gone to and why do i feel so sentimental ??

Here she is having her 1st legal drink at dinnertime with the family and cutting the obligatory birthday cake after the 'singing' had taken place much to her protesting !!

Tonight she's out for a romantic meal with David (her b/f) the oldies (DH & I) have been left at home to chill out after all the excitement of the day

Ruby Wedding Sampler

Why is it that you just can't get a good photo of a piece of stitching in a frame?? I took 10 different ones of this, in every room of the house (to get the best light etc) and i'm sorry to say this was the best. The colours don't look anything as rich as they are. I'll be giving it to my friend/neighbour tomorrow when i see her, i hope she is pleased with it and that her sister and hubby like their special handmade anniversary gift. Stitched on 28ct jobelan 'ash rose' using DMC and Vikki Clayton silk 'garnet' for the wording and hearts

Looks like we're in for a beautiful weekend weather wise, that'll please DH he can get out into the garden. Enjoy your weekend everyone, and your Bank Holiday extra day Paula - no lying in bed all day, didn't i read you have painting to be done LOL

Rose SAL

Only a little progress to show on week 4 of the SAL with Karen. Been a very busy week here, not stitched much at all. Back to the stitchy club last night, cream cakes all round as it had been my birthday, another nice treat. We discussed the horticultural show that takes place in the community centre 8th September and what we are going to each stitch for raffle prizes, so thats some more bits i have to stitch in August, it's going to be a busy month !!

Sally & Paula - the mini of the stitching cherub was stitched by me for Amy, it was the one that got returned in the mail. Karen stitched the seaside theme for me as i was her partner.
