Merry Christmas
December is marching on and we've passed the winter solstice and counted down the days for this years Christmas celebrations.
It's been a while since I blogged here. Things are still challenging for us. As well as the ongoing problems that I am still facing, DH has now been diagnosed with a serious heart problem and is awaiting a heart operation which hopefully will not be too far away. We have a bag packed ready just in case of emergency admission!
I've finished off a couple of ornaments stitched earlier this year
It's been a while since I blogged here. Things are still challenging for us. Unfortunately, blog reading has not really been happening and I apologise for not visiting you recently. Lots of things have not been happening.
I've finished off a couple of ornaments stitched earlier this year
I made a couple of felt ornaments and sent them to each of my nephews and their wife/partner as they are both to become fathers themselves in the spring.
Socks have been knitted in quieter moments and in hospital waiting rooms
Earlier in December we attended a Christmas tree festival at church. There were 1300 trees in all. Such a spectacular sight to see, here's a few.
The community centre organised a Christmas Fayre and the knitting group I belong to had a stall filled with delights for sale to boost our funds
Also at the community centre we had 'Cinema in the community' this past week - 50 people were invited to see Miracle on 34th Street on the big screen and enjoy a buffet lunch after. DH and I were lucky to receive an invite and it was so lovely to enjoy the company of local people we call friends.
It wouldn't be Christmas if I hadn't had my annual chat with the reindeer
and I did bake and ice my cake ...
Postie has delivered some lovely gifts, thank you ladies.

Knitting therapy
The knitting group at the community centre are having a stall at the annual Christmas Fayre to raise funds for our group.
Using oddments, I've made 12 mini stockings to add a small sweet treat into.
Many thanks to those of you who have sent messages to enquire how I am.
I begin my counselling sessions this week, so fingers crossed I can find 'ME' again .......

Gifted Gorgeousness - SEPTEMBER
Basically you post a pic of anything that you have been gifted or have gifted yourself to others.
Two school cardigan gifts completed for my granddaughter
This weekend was the horticultural and craft show locally.
My socks knitted for DH won 1st place in the 'Hand knitted garment'
Just Nan 'High Hopes' also won a first place in the cross stitch section.
It was also awarded Best in the Hobbies & Handicraft.
My name will be added to the others on the trophy.
The chart for this was passed on.
Things have been a bit out of sorts here for the past month both physically and mentally for me. I tried to carry on as normal, but it just wasn't working and only made things worse. I've not been around in blogland, no commenting or reading and generally taking things slowly and being kinder to myself each day and not worrying about things that don't get done if they are not needed.
Friends have been very supportive, both in person and online.
My thanks to those who have sent messages asking if i am ok as i haven't commented on their writings or made a post myself.
I'll be back when i am feeling a bit brighter

This month I have been busily knitting a school cardigan. A gift for my granddaughter and another needs to be done in the next 2 weeks as well!
A stitched gift for my daughters 30th birthday earlier this month.
Lizzie Kate design called 'Promise Me'
I had a lovely gift in the post from June to celebrate my birthday.
Thank you June, so useful and pretty.
I've already shared other gifts I received for my birthday in the previous post and the lovely fabric that I won I Andrea's giveaway, so wont add them on here again.

July's round up
July was a very hot month here in the UK?
Lots of lovely summer flowers blooming, times spent in the shade enjoying the garden reading my book but unfortunately on two separate occasions during the month I was a tasty treat for bugs and bitten badly and ended up with an urgent appointment at the doctors surgery. My weekly chemotherapy was stopped and super strong antibiotics given which were not nice at all.
I rested a lot and knitted when I could. Two pair of socks finished and I made up a card kit I had stitched in the previous month.
I also received a certificate to shop online from Barb, thank you Barb for your thoughtfulness x
Lovely cards, ecards and emails from friends too. Many thanks to all of you that remembered me xx
The day after my birthday another envelope dropped onto the doormat. I was very lucky and had won a giveaway on Andrea's blog The Craft Room. Many thanks Andrea for your kindness. I'm looking forward to using these beautiful fabrics you have kindly shared with me.

This one was the choice of Justine for the monthly read at Needlecraft Haven.
At the end of the month I celebrated a birthday with some lovely gifts.
DS bought me two super embroidery books as I had expressed a wish to have a go at something different.
Hubby thought I could do with some new socks for myself, chose this wool and a new Herdy mug
The lady who runs our knitting group knows my love of bunny's and knitted this tea cosy for me.
It's fabulous.

Scavenger Photo-hunt ~ JULY

A usually quite empty street is cluttered with stalls and shoppers when the continental market is in town

The hydrangea bush in my garden is full of blooms this year.
It's enjoyed the prolonged rain earlier in the year and recent sunny days.

OWN CHOICE
DH is a fan of the subtitled Italian TV series Montelbano. Inspector Salvo Montelbano often visits with Dr Marco Pasquano, the forensic pathologist and takes him a treat of cannoli - where he proceeds to eat sometimes 6 at a time! A recent trip into the city and we spotted a new Italian café and they were advertising cannoli in the window. Keen to give it a try and see why it might be so delicious we purchased one for each of us. Have you tried them before? I wasn't too impressed but DH liked it.
