June Scavenger Hunt Photo Challenge

This month i am taking part in the Scavenger Hunt Photo-Challenge, I've been saying I will join the others for a while and this month hooray... I have

The words for June are :-

Yellow

Meet 'Arthur Bell' the given name of my lovely rose

 

The new buds are gorgeous, tinged with red .....

 

 

The red disappears as the bud opens.

 

The scent is devine and the colour is so bright and beautiful

 

Slowly the bright yellow fades to the palest of lemon as the flower continues to open.

 

Starts with a ... T

 Tor - Glastonbury...... DH and I climbed to the top on a visit to Somerset

 

 

 Lilac

The first posy of this years sweet peas, lots of lilac ones which smell amazing.

Greenhouse - definitely green!  

 

Situated at the community orchard plot where anyone who lives locally can come along, give a couple of hours a week of their time to help grow fruit/veggies etc and take away foods as we harvest them over the seasons.  It's all free to local people after funding applied for from the local council was granted to help make it a success.  It prevents isolation in the community and helps mental health issues.  DH is Chair of this project and everyone is welcome. 

 

 

The 'greenhouse' is a new addition in January this year (funded by a council grant) and is filling up nicely.

My own choice

 

and the joke behind my daughters Fathers Day card from earlier this month.... I have a job getting to drive my new car as DH is always first to grab the keys when we are going out.  He says I should stop complaining as it came with my own personal chauffeur!

 

 

I'm looking forward to seeing what the others have come up with this month for the words.

Fabulous quilters

 A group of quilters hold an exhibition of their work once a year with proceeds going to local charities. 

 

They don't charge an entrance fee, but you can pay £1 for a chance to win one of their handmade double bed quilts (I won the prize once).  

 

There are other games you can play too and win handmade goodies.

 

DH took me on Sunday to this years exhibition at a local village hall, it was lovely to chat with the ladies and see their work.

The tutor of the group is the lady who comes to teach us at the craft group once a year.

 

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see her as the village also has their open gardens this weekend and hers is one of the wonderful sights on show, her hubby had a problem with his bees!

All quiet on the homefront

It's was a very quiet weekend.

Yet another check up with the Dr and I was advised not to speak for the whole of the weekend to rest the throat area.  The joys of this rare disease that no one knows about, all trial and error and wait and see.  I did as suggested but it didn't really help.  We await their next bright idea!
 
The sun was shining so I sat in the garden under the umbrella reading for a while and also stitched on Just Nans High Hopes
 

 
It grew quite a bit by the end of the afternoon

The squirrel was lifting the lid and eating his nuts in the feeder DH made for him, it was to try and stop him eating the birds food, but it doesn't
 

There was a variety of birds on one of the feeders, whizzing in and out.  The starlings were feeding their babies and so was mamma blue tit.   Oh look, there's DH in the greenhouse, I didn't notice that when I took the picture.

My companion wasn't too helpful, not once did he go and make us a cup of tea! - his owner lives next door but he wishes he lived at our home and spends most of his life with us.

I changed the colour of the flowers from the white charted and made them brighter with the pink.

A little knitting, not a good picture of the red cardigan - why does red not photograph so well?

 

The flowers along the border I showed last time turned out really well. 

 
All the parts are knitted now, just the sewing up and neckband and button bands to add (the bit I am not keen on)
 

DH went up to the community garden/allotment on Sunday where he is Chair of the group of volunteers.  This week he came home with strawberries and the first potatoes of the season.  Nothing beats homegrown foods that you can pick and eat immediately.   Plenty more to come as the plot is filling up nicely.
