Finding something that wasn't lost

When looking for something I came across a bag with some crochet granny squares in it.

There were 16 actually, made quite a while ago.

How could I have forgotten about them?

I thought I'd used all the sock wool oddments on the vintage looking blanket here, but obviously I had other plans at some time for the leftovers before I started that.

I looked at the squares for quite a while and played with them, tried different combinations.

Whilst in lockdown I've added rows to each one, joined them together and added a border to make something useful.

When I made a wool order in late March, I added on 2 balls of green, mustard and cream that were on sale, in the hope that it would bring the squares together.

It's a nice size and doesn't look too bad.

At least the squares are not sitting in a bag anymore.

The first posy of this years sweet peas, they've enjoyed the recent sunny days

June 1st was the first day of 30 Days Wild

I decided to take part this year.

It'll be a little different and will be the wilds of my garden as I still have to stay home until told otherwise, but it will be a challenge that I'm looking forward to.

Day 1 - As I walked round the garden, I noticed this beauty had opened her petals perfectly on June 1st so had to start me off.

Day 2 - buzzy bees doing their thing

Day 3 - today it rained and this little chap came out to play.  I did try to coax him to turn round, but he's a little shy and didn't want his picture taken so kept his back to me before he hopped off.

I hope your June has started off well and brings some happy times as well as continuing with the social distancing and taking care to stay safe.

Love and blessings from our home to yours

Julie

Gifted Gorgeousness ~ March

Three gifts to share for March's Gifted Gorgeousness post :-

A baby boy due next month for my oldest nephew and his wife.

Exactly the same blanket as his brother had for his new baby girl last month

Wrist warmers knitted for a friend with arthritis

This one is an oriental poppy and is going off in the post to Clare for her 'Bouquet Tree' for the Christmas tree festival at the church.

I know a few of you are stitching a flower to add as well. You can read all about it here and add your name if you would like to make one for Clare's tree too.

If you are not familiar with Gifted Gorgeousness, you can visit Jo's blog to find out more.  GG was started in 2015, a day of the month to share things that have been gifted to you, or you have gifted to others since your last months post.

Gifted Gorgeousness ~ JANUARY

It's time for the first Gifted Gorgeousness post of 2020.  The brainchild of Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching which has been running for a while now

A post to share anything that you have gifted to others or that has been gifted to you.

Since I knitted my first pair of socks (back in 2012 I think it was), I've amassed quite a collection of sock wool oddments.  Lots of the socks have been knitted and given as gifts and some of the wool used was sent to me by knitters who having tried to knit them, given up and passed on their unused wool.

Over the Christmas holidays I got all the leftovers together and made a start on a large granny square lap blanket.  Every single little ball used up and a border added a couple of evenings ago here it is completed.  My first finish of the new year.

No plan of what colour to add when, just dip into the basket and grab another ball randomly.

It's turned out really nice and DH is loving having it across his legs to keep him warm and cosy especially in the recent nasty stormy weather we have been having the past couple of days.

A lovely surprise envelope arrived last weekend. Justine kindly sent some unwanted stash for our craft groups.  There are a wide variety of people who come along, some just want the company, others are there to learn a new skill.  These goodies will be put to good use by the members.  Thank you Justine for your kindness.

What's in your GG post this month?  I'll come and have a look if you are in the link-up on Jo's blog.  If you have not taken part before, pop along and read all about it and see if you would like to join us.

Love and blessings
