When looking for something I came across a bag with some crochet granny squares in it.
There were 16 actually, made quite a while ago.
How could I have forgotten about them?
I thought I'd used all the sock wool oddments on the vintage looking blanket here, but obviously I had other plans at some time for the leftovers before I started that.
I looked at the squares for quite a while and played with them, tried different combinations.
Whilst in lockdown I've added rows to each one, joined them together and added a border to make something useful.
When I made a wool order in late March, I added on 2 balls of green, mustard and cream that were on sale, in the hope that it would bring the squares together.
It's a nice size and doesn't look too bad.
At least the squares are not sitting in a bag anymore.
The first posy of this years sweet peas, they've enjoyed the recent sunny days
June 1st was the first day of 30 Days Wild
I decided to take part this year.
It'll be a little different and will be the wilds of my garden as I still have to stay home until told otherwise, but it will be a challenge that I'm looking forward to.
Day 1 - As I walked round the garden, I noticed this beauty had opened her petals perfectly on June 1st so had to start me off.
Day 2 - buzzy bees doing their thing
Day 3 - today it rained and this little chap came out to play. I did try to coax him to turn round, but he's a little shy and didn't want his picture taken so kept his back to me before he hopped off.
I hope your June has started off well and brings some happy times as well as continuing with the social distancing and taking care to stay safe.
Love and blessings from our home to yours
Julie

DeleteYour blanket looks lovely especially on the sunny bench. I wonder what wild June will bring us after such a great Spring.
ReplyDeleteI hope its not too wild weatherwise!
DeleteYour blanket looks lovely, the colours go well together, I love Nord and Fable yarns, I have used both and have more in my stash, the shades in Nord are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely blanket and oh, to have sweet peas. I'm doing 30 days wild too and will post the first five days tomorrow:)
ReplyDeleteYour blanket looks good, Julie. It will be interesting to see what else you find in your 30 days wild.
ReplyDeleteJulie: Your afghan is beautiful, I do not knit or crochet but love touching the yarn at the stores I visit.
ReplyDeleteSweet Peas are such a delicate looking flower, all your photos are beautiful, I have never seen a bee like the one in the photo.

Looks like we both put granny square away at some point :-)
ReplyDeleteThe blanket came out great, it's feels good to get these forgotten things made up into something useful.
What a delight to find those granny squares! The blanket is wonderful Julie! I love your challenge of 30 days right at home! Have fun with that! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice suprise to find the squares and you put them to good use!! Great finishing design too! Your 30 day challenge is fun!!
ReplyDeleteYour rug looks lovely & reminds me of the Centred quilt I'm doing for the QAL with Sandra. The 30 days wild challenge is such a great idea & I sometimes think I'll take part too, but June is the begining of winter here, so some days are too inclement & grey for good photos. Maybe I could give it a go on a smaller scale on the good days. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
ReplyDeleteYour granny squares turned into a beautiful throw, perfectly joined up too. 30 days Wild sounds interesting I shall pop back to see how you're getting on.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is fabulous and I really enjoyed my peek at your garden wildlife
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is lovely and it will come in useful too now that the weather has turned cooler, I can't believe that my heating is back on again today, where has all that sunshine gone? 30 days wild is such a good idea and I'm sure you'll find lots of things in your garden, it's a good way to get you to look at things differently.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have joined in with #30dayswild - I've taken part in it for a few years now and I do enjoy it :D Lovely to see your post x
ReplyDeleteI think the blanket is lovely …
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing your photographs, especially the buzzy bees doing their thing.
All the best Jan
I love the way your granny squares have turned into a gorgeous and useful throw. Maybe you have some more hidden away somewhere. Love your garden pics too.
ReplyDeleteIt has come together beautifully, much better than sitting in a bag!
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are gorgeous, I love seeing the bees doing their thing.
That's a fabulous blanket. I really like the way the centre is different to the border.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of your garden too. I am glad it was a toad and not a frog!
Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteI love your blanket! I like your choice of the yellow and green, that yellow has long been a favourite of mine, and the green really suits it well! (But my absolute favourite is still purple.)
Loved seeing your garden photos too - I’m always photographing bees too, so many different ones!
Hugs,
Barbara xx
