A friend came and was so happy. She told me she's to become a grandparent for the first time, a baby boy is expected, exciting times to come for her and the family.
Peek into the stash drawer ..... 4 half balls of wool, 3 of them leftover from a little blanket I previously made and a darker denim shade to compliment the others.
The little guy is due to arrive just in time to meet Father Christmas. They've kept it very quiet till now as the new-mum-to-be has not been well throughout the pregnancy.
I wasn't sure if her son and his partner liked hand knits so I'm using these 4 half balls to make a blanket, same pattern I used previously - a complimentary one from Deramores.
I've made a start, it was growing quite quickly and suddenly it's finished and ready to pass on the lovely lady.

A little wander outside in the autumnal sunshine and these little beauties caught my eye.
A little hiccup on the health front, blood results were not good so there was no chemo this past week. A visit to take more blood at the end of last week and I am back for a visit with the consultant tomorrow for the next plan of action.

What a beautiful blanket, it's a lovely pattern. It's so exciting when a new baby is expected but it can put a downer on things when it's been a hard pregnancy. You expect things to go well and that you're going to bloom once you find out you're expecting but things don't always go that way. I suffered terribly with morning sickness (throughout the day) right the way through my pregnancies so I always sympathise when I hear that someone's had a hard time of it. I'm sure the little guy will make it all worthwhile once he arrives. I'm sorry to hear that things haven't gone so well for yourself either, as you said in your last post, it's all trial and error so I hope they've got something else up their sleeve to try now. Hope all goes well at your appointment tomorrow.

That is a gorgeous blanket! Excellent colour choice and if you've used up some stash then you must have room for more. :) Fingers crossed things are better next week for you health-wise.

ReplyDeleteChemo and bloods...bane of my life. Just think of it of swings and roundabouts. Sometimes we have to around to work out a balance that allows us to swing.
I know it can be demoralising but a day at a time. I hope you get some good news soon.

ReplyDeleteI love the stitch you have used for your blanket! Is it feather stitch? I do knit, but not often ..... and I rarely finish my knitting these days! There must be about 3 or 4 jumpers/waistcoats lurking in my Dreaded Cupboard! So I’m jealous of those who finish their knitting (tee,hee). How nice you were able to use some of your stash!
ReplyDeleteI love taking photos of fungi, they are so pleasing to see somehow. Is that a Shaggy Parasol in your last picture ..... we used to eat them, although we wouldn’t now! Heard too many stories of people accidentally poisoning themselves with mushrooms!
